In 1996 at the height of the AIDS pandemic I was volunteering at a transitional facility that has people living with the HIV virus. The operative word here is living with the virus. There was a couple, both who were HIV positive. As things happen (and things do happen), the woman got pregnant.

In 1995 protease inhibitors became available to the HIV community. The expectant mother was given the life-saving drugs, preventing the unborn child from being born infected with the virus. As a result, this beautiful child was born HIV negative. I believe in miracles!
