Artist Statement
This work draws from the visual language of traditional African mark
making, where the skin is inscribed with identity, power, purpose language and
instruction.

As a makeup artist and painter, I approach the face with reverence. Not only as a space for transformation, but as a surface for storytelling. This work stands as a meditation on the shared language between makeup and ritual,
between the marks we choose and those we inherit.
